My beauty routine Even with a cancer
Having a normal routine even when you feel awful makes a big difference.
Looking good gives a mental boost to cancer fighters. I know how hard it is to look at yourself in the mirror. I know the pain and the sadness. I cried...24 hours. And I decided that I was still ME, still Romy, and not a woman with a cancer. I put a smile back on my face and I went on the ring. If I had to fight, ok, but I would fight with makeup and a beautiful silky skin.
When I felt bad, the highlight of my day was a bubble bath... Taking care of myself. Just taking the time to deal with my new appearance. I was a new person, and I had to learn how to love this new person. And the new Me wondered if my old beauty routine paved the way to cancer?
Besides processed food, another often overlooked source of chemical toxins is in the body care products we use daily... Soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, makeup...
Like so many of you I have been a bit obsessed with ingredients over the last few years.I started with the food I was eating. That was easy. When I started looking at my skincare routine I realized I couldn't even pronounce the ingredients inside my products! And there were so many just in a lipstick! Common toxins in cosmetics include parabens, lead, formaldehyde and triclosan. These chemicals may interfere with your hormonal system. So every product we put on our bodies matters.
That's why I searched so hard for Organic and Natural beauty products.
After cancer treatment, reclaiming your beauty and confidence can be an integral part of healing.
The words are: Take care of yourselves, love yourselves.
The first thing I do is clean my face. Be kind with your skin. I love the Hydrating Cleanser rose and apricot from Phb Ethical Beauty and the Super light Coconut Cleanser from Balm Balm. I really appreciate the Lamazuna cleaning towels.
Hydrate and nourish
My fav is the White chocolate Truffle Moisturizer from MuLondon..Just the smell of it...And the Phb Ethical Beauty gentle moisturizer with apricot and shea butter for moisture starved and tired skins is perfect.
The Josh Rosebrook day cream with a sunscreen and the Qamaré wonderful moisturizer cream are incredible. I discovered another incredible brand Marokissime, they have an oil with prickly pear, it is a miracle to use, it attenuate dark circles and smooths the face. Because when it comes to caring for your skin while and after cancer, gentle is the key.
There is one essential thing I never go out with is my Lip balm. I am addicted to all the Crazy Rumors lip balms. They have tinted ones!
If you want to get up without the zombie face you can try a night mask. I tried Nominoë's night cream, it is a french brand of 100% natural products.
We all know that when we undergo the "intruder" our skin often looks as papyrus, I became an addict of BB creams and CC creams. Make up is essential to erase that papyrus style face... I tried and loved the Zao foundation liquid, the spatula to take the product is so nice instead of dipping your fingers...
Those who know me, know that I am an unconditional of Monoï oil, Tamanu and Argan oil. I discovered Tamanu on a trip to Tahiti, I thought my origins gave me automatic sun protection...So stupid. Tamanu oil doesn't smell very good, but I mix it with my Balanced Guru Hug Me body milk. Tamanu has exceptional healing qualities. I discovered Argan in Marrakech, it is a miracle oil for the hair and the skin. Really. And the smell of Argan oil is divine. Balanced Guru and Marokissime both have serum for the face with Argan. The beauty balm and body butter from Lyon's Leaf is great too.
Here again all is a matter of going smoothly with natural products.
The bath and shower oil from Marokissime for example is so soft and smells so good.. It's such a pleasure to take care with natural products. They smell so good. Nature smells good, no need to add fragrances, just to add more aggressors for the skin.
I really love the Apple and Bears shower gels, especially the one with Bergamot and tea. In fact I like the smells of Food! Everything that brings me back to the sweetness of a chocolate cake with a tea, settled with a good book...
Dry Hay Hair
I didn't have chemo so I didn't loose my hair. I had radiotherapy and my hair became just like hay, dry hay. I first cut them very short. And every week I put some Nigelle oil on them, let it in place a few hours and then washed them very gently with Josh Rosebrook Nourish shampoo. I really appreciated the Phb monoï hair mask and the Brilliant hair oil from Balanced Guru.
I don't know about you, but my feet were transforming into Shrek's feet! I had to take care of them everyday. They were so dry. Not even talking about the nails... I tried the Balm Balm organic tea tree foot care. As you know tea tree acts as a natural antibacterial and antiviral so you can use the balm for all sorts of skin irritations.
I never go out without my hand cream either. Of course I like the ones with a smell of lavender or shea butter. I always keep with me the calendula cream from Lyon's Leaf.
The watchword : Hydrating and Feeding
What about Make up?
You absolutely have to wear make up. For you. It is essential and really makes you feel good. We are lucky to have brands of make up vegan and halal that are absolutely fabulous. I am found of Khadija's khôls and eyeshadows, I use the compact powders essential to unify, Zao has wonderful ones.
To conclude, take care, take the time to give yourselves love.
Make a bubble bath and apply a mask, The secret of Fairies is a brand I love. First of all, because I am a Fairy ;) and I love their concept.
Every month I will give you access to all the incredible beauty products I found. ;)
